Organizational Structure

The UMBC Community — including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and external public and private partners — will engage in the strategic planning process by informing the university’s core values (thereby its mission), providing feedback on strategic goals, and proposing strategies and tactics to fulfill our strategic priorities and goals.

 

Steering Committee Members

Who is on the steering committee?

Role:  Oversee the strategic plan; develop priority areas and goals; develop key metrics; issue a call for strategy proposals to facilitate priority area and goal achievement.

 

Key Partners

Who are Key Partners? Steering Committee, Senior leadership (SL), SLs’ next-level reports, and representation across our internal constituents (exempt and non-exempt staff, faculty, adjunct faculty, and students)

Role: Invited to Fall Gathering and Spring Visioning events; affirm/revise MVV, come to consensus on priority areas and crosscutting priorities, and formulate high-level goals by priority area.

 

Working Groups

What are Working Groups (WG)?  Working groups are led by co-chairs; internal and external constituents constitute the WGs; some Key Partners are part of the WGs to facilitate continuity and coordination within the strategic planning organizational structure.

Role: Vet proposals from the CFP for strategies to facilitate priority area and goal achievement.
