Add your voice to campus strategic planning process

Conversations at the University Retreat in August and more than 30 campus community meetings this fall are guiding the work of the UMBC Strategic Planning Steering Committee as it considers the vision and focus areas that will serve as the foundation of the campus’s new strategic plan: Our UMBC – A Strategic Plan for Advancing Excellence.

Steering Committee meeting notes and supporting background information for these meetings are now available on the Strategic Planning website, including a detailed report on University Retreat discussions and a draft of vision elements and focus areas under consideration. We invite you to review and comment on these materials outlining our progress in the early stages of the planning process.

Provost Philip Rous and Faculty Senate President Kathleen Carroll, who serve as Strategic Planning Steering Committee Co-chairs, have charged Steering Committee members as “agents of responsibility” to engage stakeholders in discussing foundational elements of the planning process.

An integral part of this effort is outreach to the campus community for feedback on vision statement elements and focus areas. Outreach meetings are scheduled throughout November and early December with a variety of shared governance, college and division groups, and the entire campus community is encouraged to attend an Open Campus Discussion set for November 18, noon to 1 p.m., in UC 312.

Please visit the Strategic Planning website for a full list of upcoming fall campus engagement meetings.
